The demand for holidays in the Netherlands is currently considerable, as is evident from the increase in the number of advance bookings for 2023 at the travel organisation Prijsvrij/D-reizen Groep. The organisation has looked at the most striking trends in the pre-booked holidays for 2023, from which it can be concluded that mainland Spain, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands still hold the highest positions.

The bookings for 2023 show that the moment at which Dutch people book a holiday is taking place earlier than before. The number of advance bookings at both Prijsvrij and D-reizen for the summer holidays has more than doubled compared to last year and is even four times as high as in 2018. According to Joep Kelder, Director Online Marketing & Sales of Prijsvrij/D-reizen Groep, many customers are now booking their holiday for 2023 before Christmas, while in previous years this only happened after New Year.

Spain has been the most popular destination for advance bookings for the summer holidays for years. This will remain the case in the current advance booking season, but the difference with Greece is becoming smaller. Greece is chosen more often than ever before. The top 5 is completed by the Canary Islands (of course that is Spain), Turkey and Italy.
